What is the difference between exfoliation and micro-exfoliation?

Dr. Katie Rodan: Exfoliation is the process of removing dead skin cells to brighten the complexion. Regular exfoliation will help accelerate cell turnover and aid in the removal of excess melanin. It also helps clear the way for better efficacy of active ingredients.

Exfoliation can be part of your daily cleansing routine. REVERSE Deep Exfoliating Wash with alpha hydroxy acids helps loosen dead skin cells and refine skin texture and tone. To further boost results from your skincare Regimen, using an exfoliating tool, like REDEFINE AMP MD Micro-Exfoliating Roller, is clinically proven to improve your results by 50%. This tool conditions your skin, improving the appearance of firmness and elasticity and minimizing the appearance of pores.

No matter which exfoliation method you choose, the secret is—don’t overdo it! Avoid harsh exfoliant ingredients like walnut shells or apricot pits that can scratch or irritate your skin. If your skin becomes red, uncomfortable, or dry, substitute an exfoliant cleanser with a mild one,   followed by moisturizer, until your skin recovers. When it comes to your skin, the saying “no pain no gain” simply isn’t true! The best results are achieved with products that are both gentle AND effective.

  1. Right now I’m using the Reverse accelerator pak and have used the microdermabrasion paste twice in place of the wash (2 weeks apart). My skin intially feels amazing but 2 days later gets very rough and dry. Am I doing something wrong? or overdoing it?

  2. I just started the reverse amp it up. I have done 2 mornings so far. Any reason why I can’t have a microdermabrasion tomorrow?

  3. Hi Katherine! Do you perhaps sleep on one side? The left side of my face has more wrinkles as it is the one I slept on most of my life! I now sleep on my back which is better for your overall health and less wrinkles. And yes exfoliating and rolling should help. You can always try Acute Care strips on the more wrinkled side to even them out. Hope this helps.

  4. Hi. One side of my face has a lot of wrinkles which is very noticeably. Do you have any suggestions to help get rid of these wrinkles? I am 57 and use the redefine skin care. Should I use the roller more frequently?

  5. Hi, I am still not clear on the difference between Exfoliation and Dermabrasion….I understand what Exfoliation does as stated above but unclear re the Dermabrasion… I am a Consultant and would like the best answer when a client asks the question

What is the difference between Exfoliation and Macro Dermabrasion……The explanation above seems to me NOT to answer that question….thanks

  6. I am currently using Redefine and it has removed dead cell build up around a few small scars. I am wanting to add Reverse to my regiment to address some discoloration. I am a relatively new C and would appreciate what products to add and the frequency I should use them.

  7. I have contemplated adding this to my regimen. I am currently using the AMP roller and Macro E Exfoliator (once weekly).
Would this be used alternate days to the AMP roller?

    1. I use the roller 5-6x’s a week and the Macro once a week. I add in the micro dermabrasion paste 1-2 x’s a week to help get rid of black heads and decrease my dry flaky skin. I use the paste in place of my wash or Step #1 of which ever regimen I am using. I use Reverse in am and Redefine in pm. I still use my roller on the day I use the paste but not on the day I use my Macro. Hope that helps!

  8. I have spots on my face that feel kind of like small warts. I don’t know what they are or what has caused them. Can you help me???
I’m using the Unblemish regimen now, but I’m not really certain that’s what I need!!! PLEASE help me!!!! Thank you!!!!🤗
